Advertising trends
Today in society, a lot of areas require your information to have access or be able to take on some promotions being advertise. Any where you go that sells stuff require some type of information whether it be a signature or something more personal. I know this for a fact because everywhere I go to shop for electronic to furniture I'm ask for my personal information to see if I'm eligable to become one of their members award group and be able to get some type discounts or what not. People now in days don't carry straight up cash but a debit or credit car which would require a signature at the end of a purchase sometimes, not always but when it's something more pricey than average. Companies use us as we use them to buy they're product. Not all companies use us the same as others but some take advantage in doing so. It's I guess how society is today. What ever is being advertise people fall for it and might think by signing up for something you would get better things but in reality the companies use us. It's just business as they would say but with people's information. By signing up for something I feel like it's signing up for something else and not what is being said. They say something but not everything. It's harmful to the consumer cause they may not know entirely what exactly they are signing up for. People aren't in control no more of their information because they let small business or even big business take hold of they're information.

Yea, I forgot about the whole idea of people signing up or agreeing to things they may not fully understand. South Park made light of the situation with their Human-cent-iPad episode that no one cares to read, and it is honestly too much for a person to read it all.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if it was mandatory for companies, that practically force the agreement of a contract/rules to even use their product, to have sectioned off the very basic universal rules to the agreement so everyone can skim through what is already known and read what is specific to their agreement.
DeleteI agree with you and the fact that I work at a retail store I get it more. I have to ask people to sign up for a rewards card or credit card and there is many that will ask questions on what it is and then there are others just give me personal information freely without really knowing what they are signing up for. So many stores use phone numbers for some type of point system and it has just become normal to give you phone number out to anyone.
